RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Rain showers are on the way setting up for a very wet start to the week. Tonight into tomorrow night looks to be the wettest and when all is said and done most of the area will likely see 2"-4" of rain by Wednesday evening with locally higher amounts possible.

Cloudy skies are with us this morning ahead of a system that will bring us rain the next several days. Bulk of the rain doesn't look to move into the area until the lunch time hour. Rain showers will become heavier and steadier by the evening hours. High temperatures today will be in the low to middle 70s.

Rain showers continue tonight making for a very wet morning commute tomorrow. Overnight lows drop into the middle 60s.

Rain continues all throughout the day tomorrow coming down heavy at times which could lead to localized flooding in poor drainage areas. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the low to middle 70s. By tomorrow evening most of the area will likely have accumulated 2"-4" of rain with some locally higher amounts possible.

The risk of rain showers continues for Wednesday, but will become more scattered. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s and we could see a few isolated late day thunderstorms on Wednesday.

Temperatures really warm up by the end of the week with highs back in the 80s and topping out near 90 on Friday. Rain chances decrease for the end of the week, but thanks to the heat and humidity we stay with the risk of late day isolated storms Thursday through Saturday.

Finally by the end of the upcoming weekend we are looking at a fully dry day with highs in the middle 80s under partly sunny skies.
