StormTracker8: A good looking weekend for Central Virginia
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – We will have mainly clear skies for this evening and tonight with lows in the lower 60s.
Saturday will start off with sunshine however a few clouds will develop during the afternoon making it partly sunny and there's the chance for a quick passing shower. It will be a mild day with highs around 80.
Sunday will feature partly sunny skies and again it will be nice and mild with highs in the upper 70s and we will still have a chance of a quick passing shower during the day.
Monday is the first day of fall and it looks to be delightful with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s. Fall officially begins at 2:19 in the afternoon.
Tuesday and Wednesday will also feature partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 80s. However, both days we will have the risk for a few isolated showers or maybe even a thunderstorm during the afternoon.
Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, a more organized weather system will come our way and give us more in the way of clouds and the risk of some scattered showers and maybe even a thunderstorm. Our high temperatures will be in the middle to upper 70s.
Tracking the tropics:
Tropical Storm Gabriel has winds of 50 mph and it is moving to the northwest at 12 mph. That motion is expected to continue throughout the weekend, and strengthening will occur with Gabrielle. It is quite possible by the time we get into the second half of the weekend and early next week Gabrielle will become a hurricane and possibly strengthened to a category 2 Hurricane by Monday. However, the most important takeaway is that this storm will stay way out to sea and not have any effects for the United States.
The other tropical wave that we are watching is out in the Eastern Atlantic and this has a 20% chance of developing in the next 7 days.
