StormTracker8: Clear & Cold Tonight; A Cool MLK Day on Monday

StormTracker8: Clear & Cold Tonight; A Cool MLK Day on Monday

RICHMOND, Va (WRIC) -- After seeing a light Wintry Mix during the day on our Sunday, we will now see quieter weather conditions for a while. Details below.

Tonight’s forecast for this Sunday night into Monday morning, calls for clearing out skies overnight and cold temperatures, getting down into the 20s areawide. I can’t entirely rule out isolated icy spots on Monday morning, from the wet roads turning to black ice in at least isolated locations, so plan accordingly in the morning.

Tomorrow’s forecast for our MLK Jr Day will be a sunny to mostly sunny day, with breezy conditions from time to time and cool temperatures, rising to 40 to 45 degrees. Monday night into Tuesday morning, a dry weather system will be sweeping through the region.

Our Tuesday will be a very chilly day all around, from start to finish, under mostly sunny skies and high temperatures, only rising to around 35 degrees.

Wednesday will be a cool day, under partly sunny skies, and high temperatures, rising to 40 to 45 degrees.

Thursday is now trending warmer, under partly sunny skies, and high temperatures, rising to around 55 degrees. Based on the latest information on this Sunday night, I would go ahead and say that this Thursday is the pick day of the week for outdoor activities! On Thursday, another dry weather system will be sweeping through the region.

Friday will be a cooler day, under mostly cloudy skies, and high temperatures, rising to 40 to 45 degrees.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Sunday, and next Monday, the computer weather models are suggesting another Wintry Mix, but the uncertainty in that is High and the confidence in that part of our latest forecast is Low, so stay tuned for updates throughout this week ahead.

LONG RANGE (Through January 31st, 2026): I’m still seeing that the remainder of January will be average to below average temperature wise for Central Virginia.
