StormTracker8: Cold & windy Sunday; Slight warming to come this week

Richmond, Va (WRIC) -- If you have to head out the door today, be sure to bundle up and cover any exposed skin. Winds this morning will sustain in the upper teens and gust to near 30mph.

Come this afternoon, temperatures will be in the upper 20s but feel like they are in the teens. We will be under partly sunny skies. Clearing will continue during the overnight hours when temperatures drop to near 10 degrees.

Aside from the windy conditions, we are also concerned about Tidal Flooding, especially in Southeastern Virginia.

Monday, Groundhog Day, will be "warmer" with temperatures in the mid 30s under mostly sunny skies. Are we getting 6 more weeks of Winter, or maybe an early Spring? Only Phil will know!

The "warming" trend continues for Tuesday with highs back into the low 40s. Tuesday night we have a chance to see a wintry mix of precipitation from a weak system that will pass through and be out of our way come early Wednesday morning.

Mostly cloudy conditions will be around for the day on Wednesday and temperatures will remain near 40 degrees.

We see a dip in our highs again come Thursday when we will see temperatures back into the mid 30s.

Friday we have another chance to see some snow flurries to end our week. Our weather models are not in full agreement and this is something that we will continue to watch closely throughout the week.

Next weekend will be cold again with highs remaining in the 30s under partly cloudy skies.
