StormTracker8: Cooler Start to the Week with Isolated Showers

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Today will be much different than this past weekend! Heavier rain and storms are wrapping up this morning, but isolated showers will be possible throughout the day. The best chance to catch rain will be between noon and 8pm. Skies will be mostly cloudy, and highs will only reach the low 80s.

Tonight, isolated sprinkles will be possible, and we have a similar forecast in store for tomorrow. Isolated showers will be in the forecast, as well as highs only near 80°.

Later this week, temperatures will return to the mid to upper 80s and skies will clear enough to bring some sunshine in. Our next weather system could arrive Sunday, bringing more rain chances to kick off next week.

Tracking the Tropics

Major Hurricane Erin is still expected to remain well off the coast of the U.S., but impacts will certainly be felt along East Coast beaches. The Carolinas especially could see 10-12 foot waves, and Virginia Beach could see 7-10 foot waves. Rip current risks will remain at a high, dangerous level all week. In terms of direct impacts to central Virginia, there are no concerns with gusty winds.

There is another area of interest off the coast of Africa that has a medium chance for development over the next 7 days.
