StormTracker8: Mix of snow & rain for Sunday, sunshine returns for MLK Day

RICHMOND, Va (WRIC) -- We have a gloomy Sunday ahead of us. A mix of snow and rain will be around all day and wrap around 7:00pm tonight.

During the morning hours we will have a cold rain. We'll have experienced our high temperature during the morning hours. As temperatures continue to cool throughout the afternoon our chances for a wintry mix and light snow increase beginning around 2:00pm today. There are very small chances to see any accumulation on our lawns, decks, or patios. We could see a dusting to 1" at best.

Overnight temperatures are going to be cold, near 20. Skies will clear overnight bringing us lots of sunshine for Monday. Highs for MLK Day will be in the low 40s and drop into the upper teens overnight.

Tuesday will be cold. Highs will only reach the low to mid 30s. Sunny conditions will be sticking around.

Wednesday we see some "warming" as temperatures will be back in the low 40s. Clouds will increase during the day.

Thursday will be more seasonable in the upper 40s and partly sunny skies will be overhead.

Another weather system could be passing over Central Virginia on Saturday bringing us more showers and continuing into the day on Sunday with another round of a mix of wintry precipitation. Many of our models are not in agreement as we are still a week out. This is something we will continue to track over the coming days.
