StormTracker8: Pleasant End to the Week; Rainy Saturday

Richmond, Va. (WRIC) -- It's Thursday, which means we get an updated look at the drought situation, and versus last week, we are seeing an expansion of the moderate and severe drought. We have beneficial rainfall on the way for Friday and for Saturday, details below.

We have another great day in store, but it won't be quite as warm as yesterday! Highs today will rise into the lower 60s, under partly sunny skies.

Overnight, cloud cover will increase, and lows will be in the upper 30s.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 60s, with rain showers developing late in the afternoon.

Rain showers will continue through Friday evening, the best chance for rain will be overnight Friday and all day Saturday. Saturday won't be cold; highs will be in the upper 60s again.

Rainfall totals will be minimal, with most future estimates putting us close to half an inch. Rain chances will wrap early Sunday morning.

Sunday highs are expected to occur shortly after midnight. Temperatures will remain steady in the upper 40s to near 50 until the afternoon, then they will drop into the 30s for the night.

Next week, we will return to "normal" for the month of January - with highs in the 40s and lows at or below freezing. Enjoy the rest of this week!
