StormTracker8: Snow and sleet tonight, freezing rain all day Sunday

Richmond, Va. (WRIC) -- Snow is developing across the region and it will continue into the overnight hours, then a transition to sleet will happen early Sunday morning around 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m., then a transition from sleet to freezing rain will happen around 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., then the freezing rain will end altogether around Midnight Sunday night, if not by 3:00 a.m. on Monday morning. Aside from the mixed precipitation expected throughout the day on Sunday, it will be cold, all day, with temperatures struggling to get to around 30 degrees.

Tomorrow night into Monday morning, will drop into the 20s, which will lead to refreezing of all of our roads.

Monday will be another cold day, with temperatures only rising into the 30s, under mostly sunny skies, which will lead to some melting of the snow and ice, from the Weekend Winter Storm. Monday night into Tuesday morning, we will get very cold, with temperatures plummeting down into the single digits, which will lead to more refreezing of the roads once again, of any of that lingering snow and ice.

Tuesday and Wednesday of next work week, will remain cold, with temperatures only rising into the 20s, under mostly sunny to partly sunny skies.

Thursday of next week, may bring us some snow showers to the region, with cold temperatures continuing, with highs only in the 20s.

Finally, next Friday through next Sunday, all will remain cold, in the 20s and 30s for high temperatures. Next Saturday, we may be dealing with another Wintry situation, but it is too early for specifics on that situation right now.

LONG RANGE: Heading into early February, unfortunately it is still looking chilly to cold for awhile across Central Virginia.
