StormTracker8: Some Sun Today; Very Rainy Tomorrow

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – It's another chilly start to the week, with temperatures in the 30s for most. Cloudy skies will clear through the morning, and we're expecting plenty of sunshine this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-40s.

Clouds will return this evening. Rain chances will kick off after midnight, and counties northwest of metro Richmond (such as Buckingham, Fluvanna, Louisa, and Orange) have the chance to see wintery mix, mainly between 2am and 9am. The vast majority of Central Virginia will only get a cold rain. Lows will be in the low 30s.

The best chance for rain will be Tuesday from sunrise to midday, and it is expected to be widespread in nature. Bring the rain gear and take it easy tomorrow. Rain totals could exceed an inch in isolated locations. It will be a pretty bummer day, with highs in the low 40s. Stay warm and dry!

Rain chances will wrap up Tuesday evening. Wednesday and Thursday will be a tad warmer, with mostly sunny skies. Friday we are monitoring as another weather system is projected to push through the region. With this one, we have a better shot for wintery mix or even flurries across Central Virginia. We still have time to iron out the details, so stay tuned here for the latest. We will be keeping an eye on the RVA Illuminates Forecast, as right now, the precipitation is expected to begin in the evening hours.

The rain chances with this system are expected to wrap up Saturday morning. Next weekend is overall looking good.
