StormTracker8: Sunday soaker; Clearing & dry for Presidents’ Day
Richmond, Va (WRIC) -- Rain has already started to make its way into Central Virginia this morning.
Today will consist of cloudy, rainy, and cool conditions with high temperatures only rising into the mid 40s. Temperatures tonight will not be much better in the mid 30s.
Our western most counties will start to see scattered showers begin between 6:00am and 7:00am this morning. Widespread rain will begin not long after between 9:00am and 11:00am. This weather system will begin to wrap around 11:00pm tonight but we could be seeing lingering showers into Monday morning when we are getting our work week started.
Once this system clears out of the region, we could be seeing totals ranging anywhere from half and inch to up to 1.5 inches of rain, with higher totals being south and east of the metro.
Monday for President's Day will be seasonable with temperatures back in the low 50s. We will see clearing and partly sunny skies will be overhead.
The rest of our work week is looking to be very mild as highs return into the low to mid 60s!
As we get to the tail end of the week and start our weekend we could see some isolated showers pass through Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Our highest chances of rain will be during the day Saturday.
Next weekend is when temperatures return back into the 50s, giving us seasonable conditions going into the last week of February.
