‘SummerFest’ in Tri-Cities aims to empower families and bring the fun
HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Hopewell is seeking to empower families and support local communities with this year's "SummerFest."
Presented by the Healthy Start Loving Steps Program, a division of the city's Department of Healthy Families, "SummerFest" will be held on Tuesday, Aug 5, at Poplar Lawn Park in Petersburg.
The Loving Steps Program, which supports pregnant women and parenting families, serves Hopewell, Petersburg, and Dinwiddie County in an effort to improve maternal and child health, according to a release from Hopewell.
“When we invest in our children, support our families, and come together in peace, we build stronger, safer communities," a release reads.
The event emphasizes the need to end gun violence and promote unity.
"SummerFest" will offer 20 local vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, a live DJ, a community panel and more.
