Support young entrepreneurs at Soul Stir Youth Business Fair

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from two special guests on Thursday to talk about the Soul Stir Youth Business Fair coming to Glen Allen this weekend.

8News anchors Delaney Hall and Madison Moore were joined by Dr. Shweta Thackeray and Ira Thackeray, a mother-daughter duo hosting the business fair to support young entrepreneurs and raise money for a good cause.

The money raised at the event will go towards supporting foster kids and providing them with care packages containing items such as pajamas and toys.

"When they're displaced from their homes, immediately, within a few hours, they hardly have anything to pack, and that's what our team is putting together," Thackeray said.

Additionally, viewers even got a sneak peek at some of the products that will be available at the event, including 3D-printed objects, jewelry and books.

Ira even created a Soul Stir magazine with her friends, which features articles about interesting people they have met.

"I've always had a love for writing, and my friends do too, and I've always had a dream of like, creating a magazine for my peers, and so I put it together with them," Ira said.

The Soul Stir Youth Business Fair will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, located at 2880 Mountain Rd.
