CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WRIC) — A feature film based on short stories from a Virginia author has selected the state as its filming location this fall.
"The Ice at the Bottom of the World" is a collection of short stories by Virginia author Mark Richard.
According to the release, the film depicts a Navy captain who returns to his Chesapeake Bay Island home after more than three decades at sea. Chaos ensued shortly when he accidentally shot down a Navy jet.
Oscar-nominated actress Virginia Madsen will star alongside actors Jake Weber, Will Patton and Jon Tenney. Director James C.E. Burke will also executive produce.
According to the Virginia Film Office, production will take place in Virginia this fall with filming locations in the coastal and Chesapeake Bay regions.
With local crew, vendors and locations, the film is eligible to receive a Virginia film tax credit, the release said. The exact amount is dependent on the number of workers, goods and services purchased as well as deliverables, including tourism promotions.
