RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- On this episode of The Rundown, host MaryCatherine Neal talks about the recent awards 8News received at the Emmys and Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) awards.

8News anchor Deanna Allbrittin and Chief photojournalist Paul Nevadomski took home a first-place trophy for their comprehensive story addressing the death of Irvo Otieno, the court case and what's next for patient care.

Executive producer Jessica Wetzler and Neal are celebrating the morning show's first "Best Morning Show" award from the VAB.
