Thieves taking ‘anything in sight’ from cars in Colonial Heights neighborhood: police

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- Thieves are targeting unlocked cars in a Colonial Heights neighborhood and "grabbing anything in sight," police say.
The Colonial Heights Police Department is investigating a recent string of thefts from vehicles in the Sherwood Hills neighborhood, according to a Thursday, July 31 Facebook post from the agency.
These vehicles were targeted because they were unlocked. Police did not specify how many cars were broken into, nor did they specify what exactly was taken -- instead saying that the thieves are "grabbing anything in sight."
You should make sure that your car, when parked, is always locked, per police -- and, when possible, try to park in a well-lit area. You should also remove any and all valuables rather than leaving them inside your car overnight.

"Let’s make it HARD for criminals to succeed," police said in the post. "A few extra seconds could save you a big headache."
