Three Greensville correctional officers charged after two inmates assaulted
GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Three correctional officers at Greensville County Correctional Center have been arrested following reported violence at the facility in the fall of 2024. The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) told 8News that each of the involved officers has been charged with assault and battery of an inmate. The arrests resulted from two investigations conducted by the VADOC's Office of Law Enforcement Services (OLES) into "use of force incidents" that took place in November 2024. Two people incarcerated at the facility were hospitalized as a result of this violence. One of the men, Allan Johnson, was confirmed to be a correctional officer by his attorney. 8News is working to confirm the employment and identities of the other two officers involved. According to Johnson's attorney, the accusations Johnson is facing "[have] nothing to do with the hospitalization" of an inmate. Johnson has been with the VADOC for years, according to his attorney, who added that he has been placed on leave. 8News has not been able to confirm the nature of his leave status with VADOC. His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 11.
