Thrive Virginia to close King and Queen County location in June

KING AND QUEEN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Non-profit organization Thrive Virginia has announced it will be closing its King and Queen County location in June, but said it's not done supporting Central Virginia.

The non-profit organization will close its King and Queen Family C.A.R.E. Center in Shacklefords on Monday, June 30, and will partner with local organizations to continue supporting the Central Virginia region.

Thrive Virginia aims to empower individuals and families fighting poverty to feel connected to their community and gain access to resources that keep them healthy.

According to a social post from Thrive Virginia's Facebook page, the organization is looking to increase accessibility to resources, including domestic violence and sexual assault intervention and protection, economic empowerment, food security and post-secondary education support.

"To better serve the entire community, we will explore ways to offer our long-standing programs in a more flexible format by partnering with local organizations and community spaces throughout King & Queen County," said Chief Executive Officer Gillian Barney in a statement on Facebook.

The organization will provide new service locations and schedules through its website and local community boards.
