Tractor-trailer crash damages Henrico overpass, causing lengthy closure
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A tractor-trailer crash damaged a Henrico County bridge on Monday, causing significant delays.
The afternoon of Monday, Feb. 9, the Henrico County Police Division issued a press release regarding extended closures on Dumbarton Road due to a crash.
The crash itself -- which involved a tractor-trailer -- took place along Interstate 95 South and it left the Dumbarton Road overpass damaged, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
As of the time of reporting, officers have shut down westbound Dumbarton Road between Lakeside Avenue and Brook Road while VDOT inspects the bridge.
Additionally, as of 3:21 p.m., the southbound center and right lanes of I-95 S in the area of the crash, as well as the nearby entrance ramp, are closed. Traffic is backed up at least two miles.
VDOT expects these closures to extend into the evening commute and potentially last overnight.
