Tractor-trailer driver shot through door on I-95 South in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 35-year-old Atlanta man is in the hospital after he was shot through the door of his tractor-trailer while driving on Interstate 95 in Richmond.

The shooting took place just after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 along I-95 South near the Bells Road exit, according to Virginia State Police.

A 35-year-old Atlanta, Georgia man was driving south in a Peterbilt tractor-trailer when a shot was fired through his passenger side door.

According to state police, he was shot in the leg. He was taken to a local hospital via ambulance for treatment.

At this time, traffic is being diverted off the Interstate at Maury Street. Drivers should expect delays in the area for several more hours.

"Further details will be released once confirmed and appropriate for public dissemination," state police said.
