Two arrested in connection to deadly Richmond shooting that killed 23-year-old man
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Two men have been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Richmond that killed a 23-year-old man in January. According to the Richmond Police Department, detectives arrested 27-year-old Trayrell Tolliver, of Richmond, and 23-year-old Darius Burgess, of Petersburg, in connection to a deadly shooting on St. James Street on Monday, Jan. 27. At around 5 p.m. on Monday, Richmond Police officers were called to the 1000 block of St. James Street for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 23-year-old Toney Garrett, of Richmond, down and unresponsive on the grass between buildings with a gunshot wound to his head. According to police, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Tolliver was arrested on Friday, Feb. 7 and Burgess was arrested on Monday, Feb. 10. According to police, both men have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection to the deadly shooting, with additional charges pending.
