Two arrested in connection with deadly Henrico County shooting

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in Henrico County earlier this month.

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, officers responded to the 2800 block of Fairfield Avenue for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Xavierx Christopher Carter with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man was taken to a nearby hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

According to a release from the Henrico County Police Division on Thursday, Oct. 23, two suspects from Henrico County were arrested in connection with the incident -- 28-year-old Antwan La'Cori Guyton and 30-year-old Corey Lamon Akers Jr.

Guyton has been charged with:

  • Second-degree murder
  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Use a firearm in the commission of a felony

Askers has been charged with:

  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
