Two men arrested, charged after larcenies from vehicles in Prince George County

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two wanted men were arrested after an on-foot pursuit by police in Prince George County on Saturday in connection with larcenies from vehicles.

In the morning on Saturday, Oct. 4, after receiving reports of unlocked vehicles being entered and items stolen along Baxter Ridge subdivision of the county, the Prince George County Police Department started investigating.

Multiple surveillance cameras at homes in the area captured images of two male suspects matching a description that was reported to police.

Later on Saturday, officers with the Prince George County Police Department arrived at a home after a caller reported seeing "two male suspects on their property."

According to police, when patrol units arrived, both suspects fled the scene on foot into what police say was a wooded area.

After a short pursuit, officers found and apprehended both men in the area. Both suspects are residents of Richmond with active warrants from Richmond, Chesterfield and Henrico Counties.

Officers stated that the arrest came following a coordinated response of larcenies from vehicles, and suspicious activity in the county.

The suspects are also being investigated for their involvement in the vehicle larcenies and other related incidents according to Prince Georges County Police.

One suspect faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Schedule I/II narcotics
  • Larceny
  • Two counts of tampering with a motor vehicle
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Resisting arrest

The other suspect was charged with the possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.

Both suspects are currently being held at Riverside Jail without bond.

"The Prince George Police Department emphasizes the importance of community vigilance and thanks the residents whose prompt reporting and video footage directly led to these arrests."

The department also wants to remind residents to always lock vehicle doors and secure valuables to prevent "crimes of opportunity."
