Two people in hospital after double shooting in Hopewell

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people are in the hospital after a double shooting took place in Hopewell Saturday night.

A call was received by Hopewell Telecommunications on Saturday, July 5, at 11:16 p.m. about a person who had been shot, according to the Hopewell Police Department.

When officers arrived to the scene, located in the 1500 block of Edward Bland Court, they found a man with a gunshot wound in his leg. He was then taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

According to police, shortly after, a "male subject" arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound in his stomach. This person was then taken to a different area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As of the time of reporting, the second victim is in stable condition, according to police.
