Two people, including 4-year-old child, in hospital after Henrico house fire

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people, including a 4-year-old child, are in the hospital after a house fire in Henrico County on Tuesday.

Just before 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, crews with the Henrico County Division of Fire were called to the 8900 block of Strath Road near Kingslands Road for report of a residential fire.

Photos from the scene appear to show a one-story home with heavy fire and smoke, with flames visible from the roof.

Firefighters rescued one adult from the home. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries, though officials did not specify how severe those injuries may be.

Additionally, a 4-year-old child was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The home's residents have been displaced by the fire's damage. They will be assisted by the American Red Cross, per officials.

Henrico Fire crews, as well as the Henrico Fire Marshal's Office, remain at the scene of the fire as of the time of reporting.

"Once the fire is out and the scene is secured, an investigation into the cause of the fire will begin," officials said.
