Two seriously hurt after pursuit ends in crash on I-95 South in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people are seriously hurt after a state police pursuit ended in a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 95 South in Chesterfield County on Monday.

Just after 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, a trooper with Virginia State Police (VSP) attempted to stop a 2019 Dodge Charger on I-95 southbound near Woods Edge Road for a traffic violation. Per state police, said violations were missing a front license plate and having incorrect license plates displayed.

The driver of the Charger, an unidentified man, did not stop and instead "took off at a high rate of speed," state police said. He then tried to pass a vehicle on the right shoulder and hit a disabled tractor-trailer.

That driver, as well as his front-seat passenger -- an unidentified woman -- were taken by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries.
