Two teens, 60-year-old man charged in connection to deadly Hopewell shooting
HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- Two 16-year-old boys and a 60-year-old man were charged in connection to a deadly Hopewell shooting that took place earlier in March.
On Friday, March 21, two 16-year-old boys were charged in connection to the murder of 25-year-old Tijuan Lamar Phillips, according to the Hopewell Police Department.
At 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, Hopewell Telecommunications received a report that a "male subject" -- later identified as Phillips -- had arrived at a local hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Officials said he was later airlifted to another hospital for further treatment.
On Thursday, March 13, officials said Phillips died due to his injuries.
According to police, officers located the crime scene at the intersection of Winston Churchill Drive and East Randolph Road.
One of the 16-year-old boys is facing charges of first-degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The other 16-year-old boy is facing charges of first-degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
In addition, 60-year-old Eston Roger Antis, of Petersburg, was charged with accessory to murder after the fact. Antis was taken to Riverside Regional Jail and is being held without bond.
