Ukrop issues recall due to undeclared allergen in some cakes

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Ukrop's Homestyle Foods is recalling four of its decorated pound cakes because of a soy allergy warning that was not listed.

The soy was used in a cake releasing agent to prevent the pound cakes from sticking. The cakes that have been impacted include:

• 8'' Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing with Pink Roses
• 8'' Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing with Red Roses
• 6'' Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing with Red Roses
• 6'' Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing with Confetti

The cakes have a best by date of Dec. 15, 2025 and were available at 28 Kroger Mid Atlantic locations within Virginia and West Virginia as well as the Ukrop's Market Hall located in Richmond on Patterson Ave.

All retail locations have been notified and have removed the product from their shelves. Anybody who has purchased the recalled cakes should return it to the retailer where they purchased for a full refund.
