VA250 announces ‘America Made In Virginia’ initiative to celebrate nation’s birth

RICHMOND Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia’s American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250) is launching "America Made In Virginia," an event to commemorate Virginia's part in the birth of the United States.

America Made in Virginia is an initiative by VA250 to prepare for the 250th anniversary of America's birth, which is on July 4, 2031.

"This is an exciting time for everyone – from individuals, to businesses, to educators and students – to join in this effort and reconnect with the ideals that make us all uniquely American," said Cheryl Wilson, executive director of VA250.

VA250 aims to:

  • Educate Americans, including students, about the United States' history, founding ideals, and system of government
  • Engage with every community and every Virginia locality in events that tell a complete story
  • Inspire everyone to commit to the values inherent in American citizenship
