VCU Office of Alumni Relations creates webpage of resources for furloughed federal employees

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- With roughly 750,000 government workers furloughed during the government shutdown, Virginia Commonwealth University's (VCU) Office of Alumni Relations has created a webpage compiling resources available to affected alumni.

As of reporting, the government shutdown has reached its 30th day. If it continues next week, it could become the longest shutdown in history.

Roughly 750,000 government workers are currently furloughed amidst the shutdown, according to ABC News.

With this in mind, a list of resources available to furloughed federal employees was added to the university's website on Oct. 28 by Kristen Caldwell of VCU's Office of Alumni Relations.

"This page provides comprehensive information and support services available to help our VCU Alumni navigate this difficult period," the webpage states.

The list overviews where you can seek employee assistance programs, civil service organizations, unemployment benefits, food assistance, housing and utilities assistance, mental health resources and more.

To view the list and find resources, visit VCU's website.
