VCU, UR Women’s Basketball teams take over terminals at Richmond International Airport

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two of Richmond's top Women's basketball teams took over the Richmond International Airport (RIC) terminal today in preparation for the Atlantic-10 conference championship.

According to RIC, both Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and the University of Richmond's (UR) Women's Basketball teams are set to compete for the Atlantic-10 conference championship, which will run March 5 through 9 at the Henrico Sports and Events Center.

But, before they take to the tournament, the teams made a pit stop.

The display at the airport included a replica of the Atlantic-10 court, with a hoop on display from the RIC's upper-level connector. The Rams and the Spiders joined their mascots in hyping their fans up for next week's championship.

Perry J. Miller, president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Commission, shared just how much this event means to the community.

"Today, we are especially thrilled to celebrate the Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship and the incredible student-athletes, fans and teams who make this event so special," Miller said.
