VDH investigation report finds Henrico Doctors’ NICU ‘not in substantial compliance with requirements’
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has released a report that details the results from an on-site survey at Henrico Doctors' Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), as well as the corrective actions the facility must take for several listed violations.
On Friday, April 25, the VDH Office of Licensure and Certification released two corrective action plans for Henrico Doctors' Hospital's NICU following an investigation into the facility after learning of fractures in two babies that occurred in November and December 2024.
According to documents obtained by 8News, a federal survey that officials said VDH completed on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services found that Henrico Doctors' Hospital was "not in substantial compliance with the requirements of CFR," or the conditions of participation for hospitals.
The report, which is a "Plan of Correction" for Henrico Doctors' Hospital, is the result of an unannounced on-site complaint survey completed on Jan. 24, 2025.
This comes after a former nurse at Henrico Doctors' Hospital, identified as Erin Strotman, faces 12 charges in relation to allegedly hurting and neglecting several babies from 2022 to 2024.
