VDH released the top baby names of 2024 in the Commonwealth: Did your babies name make the list?
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Office of Vital Records (OVR), and the Virginia Health Department of Health (VDH), released its list of top 15 baby names of 2024 born in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
According to the VDH Liam and Charlotte are still running strong as Virginia's most popular baby names in 2024, just like they did in 2023, with Liam being the most popular amongst boys and Charlotte the most popular among girls.

- Olivia
- Emma
- Sophia
- Amelia
- Isabella
- Mia
- Ava
- Elanor
- Evelyn
- Harper
- Elizabeth
- Sofia
- Abigail
- Aurora
For boy's these were the top 15 names of 2024:
- Liam
- Noah
- James
- Oliver
- William
- Henry
- Theodore
- Lucas
- Elijah
- John
- Levi
- Ethan
- Dylan
- Benjamin
- Michael
Baby names are constantly shifting and evolving with the times, so although Liam and Charlotte have held the title as most popular for a few years, other names have seen the spotlight with Ava ranking number one in 2019.
According to their findings, the VDH says that from 2019-2024 new favorites have surfaced with classic names making a comeback, and unique names rising in popularity.
In 1998, Jacob and Emily topped the baby name charts at number one when 912 baby boys were named Jacob, and 684 baby girls were named Emily. Other names like Matthew, Hannah, Michael and Sarah were close seconds.
