Vehicle fire caused delays on I-95 in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A vehicle fire on Interstate 95 caused delays for drivers in Richmond on Sunday.

The crash was first reported on the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) just before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, and was located on I-95 southbound, near the Maury Street exit.

As a result, the southbound right lane and right shoulder were closed.

According to the Virginia State Police, a disabled vehicle started smoking and then caught fire.

As of the time of reporting, there are no reported injuries.

The scene has been cleared, as per VDOT.

Drivers were encouraged to seek alternative routes.
