VHSL state championships delayed due to incoming snow storm
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia High School League (VHSL) has delayed several state championships due to forecasted heavy snowfall.
A significant winter storm is headed for Central Virginia, with residents expected to see snow coming down starting the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 19. StormTracker8 meteorologists predict several inches of snow will accumulate as this "nor'easter" continues to impact the area through Thursday, Feb. 20.
In response to this incoming wintry weather, the VHSL has decided to delay multiple state championships to ensure the safety of all of those involved.
"The decision to alter our state schedules was made for the safety of competitors, coaches, officials, tournament management team, fans and media traveling and attending each of our championship sites," said VHSL Executive Director Billy Haun in a Feb. 17 press release.
