Virginia Brain Tumor 5K to come to Bryan Park in November, raise awareness
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Brain Tumor Community's 5K walk and run will come to Bryan Park in Richmond on Nov. 2 to raise awareness and funds for brain cancer research.
The event will celebrate survivors and a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives.
If you register before Oct. 2, in-person participation options include an event t-shirt, virtual participants can register for free for those unable to attend the event in-person, and event t-shirts will be mailed to all virtual participants who raise $75 or more by Oct. 2.
According to the Virginia Brain Tumor Walk & Race's website, these are the following registration fees:
- Adult Walker – $25
- Adult Runner – $35
- Youth Walker (12 and under) – $5
- Youth Runner (12 and under) -- $15
- Volunteer – FREE
Lucky Road Run Shop will provide prizes for the top three timed adult runners, top three timed youth runners and top three survivor runners.
By raising $250 or more by the end of the day, the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) Accelerator Club can receive prizes after the event. Depending upon how much your personal fundraising page makes, prizes include NBTS crossbody bag, mesh trucker hat with the NBTS logo and a sweatshirt or hoodie.
During last year's walk and run in November of 2024, more than $140,000 was raised from the event in total. Thirty-five-year-old Victoria Kokal's Army raised the most money of all the teams present that year, with more than $38,000, while her father Kevin raised the most individually, over $12,000.
