Virginia Cannabis Control Authority announces new Acting Head

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Cannabis Control Authority (CCA) has announced its new Acting Head for the agency following its former Acting Head's departure after more than three years of service.

On Wednesday, March 26, the CCA announced that its Acting Head and Chief Officer of Regulatory, Policy and External Affairs, Jeremy Preiss, is departing from his role at the agency after more than three years of service to the CCA and the Commonwealth.

The CCA Board of Directors has designated the agency's Chief Administrative Officer, Jamie Patten, as the new Acting Head.

Reflecting on his tenure with the CCA, Preiss said, "I depart heartened by the many contributions the CCA's talented team has made to the Commonwealth's public safety and health since it started operations, and I'm confident its best days lie ahead under Jamie's very capable leadership."

John Keohane, Chairman of the Board, said Patten brings a "wealth" of experience in public administration and "a strong commitment to the CCA's mission."

"I'm excited to lead the agency during this dynamic time in cannabis regulation," Patten said in part. "The CCA will continue its important work with a focus on public safety, public health, and community protection."
