Virginia Department of Corrections offers aid to Buchanan County flood victims

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) has recently provided flood relief to residents in impacted areas of Buchanan County.

Professionals from the Keen Mountain Correctional Center made a significant flood relief contribution to Buchanan County -- which included water, meals, hygiene and cleaning products, as well as heating devices.

VADOC Continues to Provide Flood Relief to Affected Areas (Virginia Department of Corrections)

VADOC collaborated with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management's Emergency Command Center, the Army National Guard and community leaders to assist the needs of the residents in the county

According to VADOC, Bland Correctional Center and State Farm Correctional Complex also sent a box truck and tractor-trailers filled with water to Buchanan County Correctional Center and Keen Mountain Correctional Center.

The Virginia Department of Corrections will continue to help and lend a hand to our local
communities in any way we can,” said VADOC Director Chad Dotson. “These are our communities and our neighbors. Supporting those in need is crucial to our mission of providing public safety to all the Commonwealth.
