Virginia reports 475 crashes during weekend winter storm: VSP

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- After the weekend winter storm had passed through Central Virginia, Virginia State Police reported 475 crashes across the Commonwealth, including another deadly incident.

As of 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, Virginia State Police troopers have responded to 465 crashes across the Commonwealth, including 36 crashes with injuries and two deadly incidents — one in Fairfax County and another in Pittsylvania County.

Of the total 475 crashes police responded to, 100 took place in Central Virginia, with three resulting in injuries.

Virginia State Police continues to urge drivers to stay off the roads on Monday, with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advising drivers to avoid roads until mid-morning Monday. If drivers must travel, police said they should give trucks and emergency crews with the VDOT room to do their jobs on the road.
