Virginia State Police honor senior trooper killed in line of duty with motor shed
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police dedicated its motor shed on Tuesday in Nottoway County in honor of a senior trooper killed in the line of duty in 2002.
On Tuesday, May 27, troopers unveiled the motor shed, located at the Virginia State Police Driver Training Complex in Nottoway County, which honors Senior Trooper Mark Cosslett.
Forty-year-old Cosslett -- a motor trooper at the time of his death -- was killed in the line of duty on Oct. 23, 2002, during the Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., sniper attacks.

According to state police, Cosslett had just finished standing guard during his off hours at his son's pre-school, and responded from his office to a call of shots fired on Interstate 95 in the Newton area in Nottoway.
The shed will reportedly store motorcycles to train the next generation of motor troopers, as per Virginia State Police.
Officials said that Cosslett was the 51st line-of-duty death. They held a memorial ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, to honor the 67 members of Virginia State Police who were killed in the line of duty.
