Virginia State Police seize 6.1 pounds of cocaine, 2 pounds of fentanyl in ongoing investigations

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police say their ongoing crime suppression operations led to major seizures and investigations across the Commonwealth between Aug. 13 and Aug. 19.

The statewide initiative — conducted with help from federal and local partners — resulted in the recovery of firearms, narcotics, stolen vehicles and cash, along with new leads in homicide and human trafficking cases.

Firearms and narcotics seized

Troopers reported recovering nine firearms, valued at roughly $5,500. In addition, police seized 87.8 pounds of illegal narcotics and 250 controlled substance pills, with an estimated street value of more than $825,000.

The drugs recovered included:

  • 6.1 pounds of cocaine
  • 2.4 ounces of crack cocaine
  • 3.2 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 74.9 pounds of marijuana
  • 2 pounds of fentanyl
  • 1.4 pounds of MDMA (molly)
  • 100 THC vapes

Authorities also confiscated $64,337 in cash linked to criminal activity.

Homicide and stolen vehicles

During the week, state police began investigating one homicide case. Troopers also recovered two stolen vehicles.

Human trafficking and gaming enforcement

The operations generated 19 new human trafficking tips, adding to a total of 1,161 received to date. Police say they are investigating 229 cases, with more than 3,100 individual investigative activities conducted so far. A total of 69 victims have been identified and offered services.

Also, police received 20 new gaming-related tips, bringing the overall number of tips in that category to 1,789.

Virginia State Police said their crime suppression efforts are part of a broader mission to reduce violent crime and safeguard communities, while working alongside local, state, and federal partners.
