VSP says ‘stay at home’ during Wednesday’s winter storm, 250 crashes already reported

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Officials with Virginia State Police (VSP) said that state troopers are ready to respond to any emergencies resulting from Wednesday's snowstorm. However, they are also sending a warning to drivers, asking them to do just one thing: stay home.  According to the StormTracker8 team, this steady snowfall over Virginia on Wednesday, Feb 19 and into Thursday, Feb. 20, can make driving conditions dangerous, which is why it's best to stay safe at home.   During last week's winter storm, VSP reported 951 crashes between midnight on Tuesday, Feb. 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Fen. 12. Of those crashes, more than 200 happened in VSP's Richmond district.   VSP has provided some initial statistics for the current winter storm. Between midnight and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the agency has already responded to over 250 crashes statewide, with 25 having taken place in the Richmond district. As a result of those crashes, 23 people have been hurt statewide and three have been hurt locally.
