VSU to hold ribbon-cutting ceremony for largest building on campus
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State University (VSU) will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the largest building ever built on VSU's campus on June 27.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 27. Attendees can expect to see VSU president, faculty, staff, students, alumni and other community members.
The 174,000-square-foot Alfred W. Harris Academic Commons will replace the former Harris Hall and serve as the new home for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Education, according to a release shared by the university.
The modern building will offer a swimming pool, gymnasium, theatre and exhibition gallery, per the release.
The university expects to be officially moved in by August 2025.
Guests are encouraged to park in the following locations:
- Lot 28, the softball field area
- Enter through North Gate (Matthew Jefferson Blvd), turn right on University Blvd, and park on the left.
- Lot 26, Daniel Gym
- Located at Daniel Gym on Boisseau Street.
