Want to adopt an animal at Maymont? Now’s your chance

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Between a goat, a turtle, a bobcat, a pig and more, now's your chance to adopt an animal of your choice at Maymont this holiday season and receive fun gifts to kick off 2026.

Maymont announced on Thursday, Dec. 18, that community members can symbolically adopt an animal at the park. This means that in addition to "the animals' love and [Maymont's] gratitude," adopters can also get a few perks depending on the size of their donation.

With a $50 adoption package, adopters will receive an adoption certificate, two tickets to The Robins Nature Center at Maymont, an animal fact card with a picture on the back and a Maymont map with animal habitat locations.

With a $100 adoption package, adopters will receive all of the perks plus a plush of the adopted animal.

Maymont said money from the adoptions goes toward upkeeping the park's safe and secure habitats and ensuring nourishing food, regular vet visits and enrichment activities for the animals.

Community members looking to adopt an animal can do so online or in person at The Robins Nature Center, which is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Friday to Sunday.

Gift materials for online adoptions will be mailed in the new year, per Maymont.
