Weather University: Virginia and ‘I’ storms, with special guest John Bernier

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In Virginia, there is a saying when it comes to tropical systems, and that is: “Beware of the ‘I’ storm.” Storms like Isabel, Ivan, Irene and Isaias have all brought considerable damage and destruction to Virginia in the past 25 years.

We are on the cusp of possibly another ‘I’ storm developing and this one will be called Imelda.  Imelda could bring the potential for tropical weather to Central Virginia early next week, Tuesday into Wednesday.

StormTracker8 chief meteorologist Matt DiNardo sat down with his predecessor, former chief meteorologist John Bernier, to discuss the history of ‘I’ storms in Central Virginia, as well as what they see happening with the development of Imelda over the next few days and its possible local impacts.
