Woman dead after Chesterfield house fire

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A woman is dead after a house fire in Chesterfield County on Saturday afternoon.

At around 12:27 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, crews with Chesterfield Fire and EMS were called to the 4200 block of Richwine Road for the report of a fire.

Officials said crews responded to the scene at 12:31 p.m. and reported the fire was in a room at the front of a house. Crews were able to get the fire under control within 40 minutes.

According to Chesterfield Fire and EMS, a woman died due to the house fire.

Additionally, police said that two officers and one firefighter "suffered fire-related injuries."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
