Woman dies 9 days after Colonial Heights shooting, suspect charged with first-degree murder
COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- The Colonial Heights Police Department has announced the woman who was shot several times by a man she was reportedly in a relationship with has died nine days later and the man is now facing a first-degree murder charge. According to police, the woman, identified as 32-year-old Brittani La'Shon Black, died on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from her injuries after being shot on Monday, Oct. 21 outside of an apartment building on the 1500 block of Concord Avenue. PREVIOUSLY: Woman in critical condition after shooting in Colonial Heights, suspect in custody Forty-three-year-old Earnest Hakeem Vines III of Colonial Heights, who was identified as a suspect and arrested, is now facing the following charges in connection to Black's death: First-degree murder Violation of a protective order Reckless endangerment of a child Felony child abuse/neglect Using a firearm while committing a felony Vines is being held at Riverside Regional Jail in Prince George County without bond. Forty-three-year-old Earnest Hakeem Vines III of Colonial Heights, who was identified as a suspect and arrested, is now facing the following charges in connection to Black's death:
- First-degree murder
- Violation of a protective order
- Reckless endangerment of a child
- Felony child abuse/neglect
- Using a firearm while committing a felony
