Woman dies after pedestrian crash in Richmond, police seeking driver of vehicle

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public's help to find the driver involved in a pedestrian crash on Wednesday night that caused a woman to die the next day due to her injuries.

Around 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, Richmond Police officers were called to the 2600 block of West Main Street for the report of a crash.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a woman -- who had reportedly been hit by a dark-colored sedan -- down and unconscious on the ground. According to police, she was taken to a local hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening.

Police said the woman later died due to her injuries on Thursday.

The Richmond Police Department's Crash Team responded to the scene and determined the pedestrian was walking southbound on North Robinson Street and was crossing West Main Street when she was hit by the vehicle.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued to drive westbound on West Main Street.

Detectives are looking for the driver of the vehicle and are asking for the public's assistance. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Crash Team Investigator D. Olsen at 804-646-1664.
