Woman with over 20 years of local government experience named new director of economic development for Goochland County
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A woman with over 20 years of local government experience has been announced as the new Director of Economic Development for Goochland County.
In a Dec. 10 press release, Goochland County announced that Nora Amos has become the Director of Economic Development. She succeeds Sara Worley, who accepted the role of Deputy County Administrator of Community & Economic Development in Goochland earlier this year.
“I am honored to have been selected as the next Director of Economic Development,” Amos said. “I look forward to working with local leaders, businesses, residents and regional partners as we continue to strengthen our local economy while preserving the unique character that makes Goochland County so special.”

Amos recently served as the Director of Planning and Community Development in the Town of Ashland. She graduated from Radford University, earning her Bachelor's of International Economics. As well as a Public Administration Graduate Certificate from Shenandoah University. Amos also graduated from Leadership Metro Richmond, the Virginia Women's Municipal Leadership Institute and the Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute.
She has over 20 years of local government experience, where she focused on economic development, transportation, planning and zoning.
Amos will officially begin her role with Goochland County on Jan. 2, 2026.
