15-year-old arrested in connection to Chesterfield shooting near Clarendon Park

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a Chesterfield County shooting that resulted in one man being shot in the leg.

On Thursday, June 12, the Chesterfield County Police Department arrested a teenage boy in connection with a shooting that occurred on Sunday, May 25, near Clarendon Park. Detectives then received juvenile petitions for aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to police.

The teenager was taken to the Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home.

According to police, just after 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, officers responded to the Swift Creek Emergency Room, located at 14720 Hancock Village Street, for a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.

In the initial investigation in May, police said that the shooting occurred in the area of Clarendon Park, located off Brookforest Road in Chesterfield, possibly within an hour before the victim arrived at the hospital.

Officials believe that the victim and the suspect arranged to meet at the park.
