18-year-old dies after late-night shooting near Richmond’s Gilpin Court neighborhood

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An 18-year-old man is dead after a late-night shooting near Richmond's Gilpin Court neighborhood on Tuesday.

According to the Richmond Police Department, officers were called to the 1300 block of St. Peter Street at 9:41 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, for the report of a shooting.

Once on scene, officers found 18-year-old Markese Callahan-Davis with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where police said he died due to his injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene and conducted interviews -- they are not looking for suspects at this time.
